I’ve been reporting on Mosaic Comprehensive Care in Chapel Hill, NC, for an upcoming story. It is, as far as I can tell, the only primary care medical practice in the country to offer weight-inclusive care. There are no scales in exam rooms; patients are not weighed as part of routine vital signs and weight loss is never prescribed or encouraged. This great sign from Be Nourished / Body Trust hangs in every exam room. And they successfully manage patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, PCOS, and anyone else who walks into a regular primary care office.
My mind is kind of blown. How different would every doctor-patient interaction be if this kind of care was the norm?
Have you found a HAES-aligned primary care doctor in your area? Or a specialist (beyond an eating disorder professional)? Would love to know more about whether this is starting to happen, even in nascent ways…
